Expedition Practice

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme has continued to enjoy success at all levels. Approximately 100 students are currently working towards their Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.

‘The Duke of Edinburgh programme helps you build on an existing hobby. With just a little extra effort you have the chance to prove your ability’.

Their sense of achievement makes their efforts worthwhile. The expedition season is about to start with Gold teams in the Yorkshire Dales at Easter and Silver and Bronze on the North York Moors after the Easter holidays. Training has gone well covering navigation, camp cooking, equipment and safety procedures. We will soon be recruiting a new group of Year 9 students to start in the summer term.

The award is well regarded by colleges and employers and I hope that many of our Year 9 students will take up the challenge. I would like to thank Mr Hogg and Miss Thornton for their invaluable help throughout the year.

Mr S Underwood, Head of Mathematics
