Saskia, Verity, Harry, Ashleigh and Richard celebrating superb examination results

‘We are extremely proud of such a superb set of outcomes for our students in the latest round of GCSE results, and particularly pleased with our performance against the new English Baccalaureate performance measure. Such a strong academic performance is a reflection of the talents and hardworking ethos of our students, and the personalised approach of our highly skilled staff in ensuring that each student gets the grades they deserve. We are also very fortunate to have a great deal of parental support which contributes considerably to the culture of success and achievement for all at Ryedale School.

Examples of superb individual success include Saskia Fullerton-Smith (9 A*s 1 A), Harry Hodgson (8A*s, 2 As), Richard Ware (8 A*s, 2 As), Rebecca Hickman (7 A*s, 2 As, 1 B), Louise White (1 A*, 8 As, 1 B), Ashleigh Charlton (4 A*s, 6 As), Christina Leach (5 A*s, 4 As, 1 B), Robert Nicholls (5 A*s, 3 As, 2 Bs), Daisy Dunning (2 A*s, 8 As), Verity Johnson (2  A*s, 8 As). Our Applied Learning students also performed superbly, and our congratulations go to Beau Waengkaew and Lucinda Coultas who both achieved a ‘Distinction*’ equivalent to 4 A*s in Animal Care, and Jolley Gosnold who achieved a ‘Distinction*’ in the Performing Arts.

A very big thank you to staff, parents and governors for all of their hard work. Congratulations to our students on a brilliant set of results! I am sure that they will give you an outstanding base from which to fulfil your potential in the future’.

The ICT department has achieved its best ever results this year with GCSE level programmes. The information below is a summary of the results for each qualification followed by a further break down by grade and gender.

Qualification: AiDA – Using ICT
This qualification was taken by all year 11 pupils and is equivalent to one GCSE.

Pupils achieving between an A* – A grade: 18%
Pupils achieving between an A* – C grade: 91%
Pupils achieving between an A* – G grade: 96%

Qualification: CiDA – Using ICT and Computer Graphics
This option qualification was taken by 10 pupils and is the equivalent of two GCSEs

Pupils achieving between an A* – A grade: 20%
Pupils achieving between an A* – C grade: 100%

Girls 16/73 = 22%
Boys 6/50 = 12%
Combined 22/123 = 18%

A* – C
Girls 67/73 = 93%
Boys 45/50 = 90%
Combined 112/123 = 91%

A*-G
Girls 70/73 = 96%
Boys 48/50 = 96%
Combined 118/123 = 96%
